BOTH JACK DANIEL'S COMMODORES INTO TOP 10 SHOOTOUT AT ALBERT PARK

The Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodores of Todd and Rick Kelly are both through to tomorrow's Top 10 Shootout after a strong run in qualifying at the Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Victoria today.

The pair had a strong day around the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, with Rick Kelly the faster of the pair in his #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore, setting the fifth fastest time of this evening's qualifying session.

Not far behind was brother Todd Kelly, who was seventh aboard his #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore, to make tomorrow afternoon's Top 10 Shootout the first time that the team-mates have both made the 10-car qualifying run-off since the Island 300 at Phillip Island last November.

Earlier in the day Rick Kelly was fifth fastest in the sole practice session held around the 5.303-kilometre circuit this weekend, with Todd Kelly further down in 14th place.

Jamie Whincup was fastest in qualifying today ahead of Garth Tander and Greg Murphy, with the Top 10 Shootout to come tomorrow afternoon at 3:00pm (AEDST) and the opening race of the weekend following at 6:15pm (AESDT).

JACK DANIEL'S RACING QUOTEBOARD

RICK KELLY - #15 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore:

"We didn't get a great run on our first set of green tyres," said Rick Kelly.

"I found myself behind a long line of traffic when I left pit lane and it was enough to slow me a couple of times while I was passing cars and it cost us a few tenths.

"That was a bit of a bummer because it forced us to use our second set to get into the Top 10 Shootout, but we achieved that.

"It's great to be in the Top 10 Shootout for tomorrow because I haven't been in one for a while and hopefully we can qualify well to get a good starting position to start the weekend's racing.

"There's some more work to do on the car and we will try some things with the set-up but overall today was a good day for Jack Daniel's Racing and it's nice to have both cars in the Shootout."

TODD KELLY - #7 Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodore:

"Considering that we are still on the path of having a bit of an experiment with a few things it's great to get both Jack Daniel's Commodores into the Top 10 Shootout," said Todd Kelly.

"It's the first time that Rick and I have had two completely different car set-ups and still both been competitive, so that's promising.

"My Jack Daniel's Commodore is far from perfect and it's still got a few issues that we need to work on because I'm not 100 percent comfortable in it at the moment.

"But it's still quite fast. Normally when the car feels like that you are around 15th but while it feels below-par it's making grip and it's fast, so if we can do a little bit of fine tuning and get the car balanced there is a lot of potential there, which is encouraging."
