MCNALLY OVERCOMES DRAMAS TO FINISH 6TH IN V8 UTES AT WINTON

Rhys McNally put in an impressive drive today to finish sixth in the final V8 Utes race at Victoria's Winton Raceway after an electrical problem dampened the earlier race 2.

Rhys started from grid three in the reverse-top-11 race 2 this morning but struck trouble straight away when an electrical harness came loose from the engine management computer.

"It basically put my car into limp mode," said Rhys.

"All I could do is circulate and get the best result possible under the circumstances."

After a trying race Rhys was still able to finish 12th, picking up valuable points.

The team at HiTech Motorsport got the car fixed for the final race, giving Rhys a perfect opportunity to make the most of his final race.

The final race saw Rhys right on the money and battling with the front group for much of the race before finishing an impressive 6th position.

"It was a great race, I was right in the thick of things," said Rhys.

"Racing at the top end of the field has made me more confident in every way, I can fight for position and push the car harder with each outing."

"Barrel and the HiTech boys have done an unbelievable job this weekend to get a brand new car on the pace straight out of the box.

"I can't thank them enough."

Rhys now heads to Darwin for round 3 of the series more confident than ever.

"We have a few weeks off but I am really looking forward to attacking the next round of the series," he said.

"Until then I will be back into training to make sure I am ready for a top-end battle."
