MCNALLY RESTS AS SHAW TAKES ON THE LEGENDS RACE IN V8 UTES AT ADELAIDE
Rhys McNally took the day off racing as Tim Shaw competed in the Legends race today to accumulate points towards the pairs combined race on Sunday; Rhys will complete his individual race tomorrow.
Tim Shaw qualified in 18th position yesterday in his first outing at the famous street circuit and was impressed with the commitment of the team and the McNally family to the category.
"Rhys and the McNally's have been fantastic," he said.
"I have not worked with them before but I have been extremely impressed with how they go about things; they are extremely professional."
On the track things got off to a good start for Tim but soon turned pear shaped at the end of the first lap.
"I picked off a few early and was making good headway throughout the first lap," Tim said.
"Unfortunately I ran wide on the last corner and lost a few vital positions before being turned around on the second lap.
"I had to wait for the field to pass before I could get going again and work my way up from the back."
Tim was able to pass five cars and thanks to some DNF's he was able to finish 22nd in the race.
"I just feel for Rhys, I made a mistake and it has cost us points for Sunday.
"He is going so well this weekend so the fact that I have hampered his progress is a real shame.
"For a guy with so little experience in V8 Utes he is going so much better than some people realise; he has a good future in this category."
Rhys will be on the track tomorrow for his individual race before pairing up with Tim for a combined race on Sunday.
