McNally Shakes Down The Stratco Ute Before Adelaide

Rhys McNally has successfully tested his Stratco V8 Ute at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway in preparation for the first round of the V8 Utes Series at Adelaide's Clipsal 500 on March 17-20.

With scattered showers the early part of the test was hampered by slippery condition which gave Rhys no opportunity to post a solid time.

"There was no point pushing it in the wet," Rhys said.

"We know how to get around in the wet and so it was just a matter of doing a few laps to make sure the car was ok."

With a complete rebuild since the final round of 2010 Rhys was finally able to have a go when the track dried for the latter part of the day.

A 1:50.5 lap was Rhys' quickest ever at the Sydney circuit which left him confident that he had lost nothing over the break and would continue to improve this year.

"We were able to do lap times that would put me at the pointy end of the field which gives me confidence that I can get up to speed quickly.

"It has been a really positive day and given me confidence in the season ahead."

Rhys has another test day at Adelaide's Mallala Raceway next Wednesday before heading to the Clipsal 500.
