MCNALLY IN THE WARS IN V8 UTES AT DARWIN

Rhys McNally has endured a tough day to finish off a forgettable round 3 of the V8 Utes Series at Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway today.

Starting from grid 3 in the reverse-top-18 Race 2 today, Rhys got a great start as field bashed and crashed its way through the first turn, coming out in second place.

What Rhys didn't know is that front fender damage would cause the plastic inner guard to break free and get stuck under his wheel, causing him to leave the track at the fastest point and end up in the tyre wall.

"The car just didn't turn and I went off at high speed, it was pretty scary," Rhys said.

Rhys was able to recover and get back on the circuit in 29th position and work his way to 21st place despite the damaged car.

As a result of points Rhys started well back in the final race and was frustrated by being caught up with the scurry of back-of-pack drivers.

Unable to shake them he was turned around which cost him any chance of moving up the field.

He finished 28th in the race and 20th for the round.

"Nothing went our way today, I got stuck down the back and ended up tangled with them.

"It really comes back to qualifying better and racing with guys who are clean racers up the front."

"We will bounce back from this at Townsville in a few weeks and I am sure we will be stronger for the experience."
