RHYS MCNALL 14TH IN V8UTES AT BATHURST

Rhys McNally finished 14th in the V8 Utes today to top off his first effort at Mount Panorama Bathurst in a positive way.

After qualifying 22nd, Rhys made progress in each race to eventually post 14th place in the final race today.

"We got a much better start today although I stilled to improve it a bit next time I am here," Rhys said.

"My lap times in the final race were the fastest I did all meeting which shows that we now have the car speed to run up front.

"Qualifying was where we missed out this weekend but the track is so difficult it was just a matter of building up my lap time without damaging the car."

Once again the team at HiTech Motorsport who prepare Rhys' car did a fantastic job in making the car easy to drive and fast.

"I am happy that I have my first visit to Bathurst under my belt and know how to put in a fast lap here.

"Now I am looking forward to the Gold Coast in a few weeks where everyone will be facing the new track for the first time; it will bring everyone onto a level playing field."

Rhys trialled a new driving style today that focused more on being aggressive rather than saving tyres, and it paid off.

"It was good to try something different and find that it worked so I will be heading in that direction from now on with my driving.

"I am really looking forward to the last two rounds of the season now."
