In honor of Father's Day, a feature story was prepared on the series' point leader, Sage Karam.
Additional Father's Day quotes obtained from two other USF2000 drivers follow:
Patrick McKenna (ORP race winner):
"My dad has been very instrumental in my career, in that he started racing stock cars in Dublin in the ?70s and then moved on to racing single seaters in Formula Ford and Formula Ford 2000 for many years in Ireland.
"His interest in racing is what led me to start karting, and I was run by my dad for most of my karting years.
"My parents couldn't make it to Iowa but they were at St. Pete and they will be in New Jer- sey. ORP and this race are the only races that my dad hasn't been able to get to in 10 years, but luckily they are being shown on the Internet so he?ll watch them in Ireland."
"Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to race. Growing up my dad was a national champion in the truck and tractor pulling series presented by Lucas Oil. I kept asking and asking and in 2007, my dad's sponsorships were up for renewal so my dad quit and sold his dream so I could start chasing mine! We bought our first go-kart and we drove to the kart track almost every day after work. In about two months I turned more than 2,000 laps at my home track.
"I will never be able to thank my dad enough for what he did, and I can always count on him being beside me on the plane, on pit wall and throughout my career.
"For this Father's Day I hope to be able to give him our first win. My mom and I also got him some surprises for the UTV we ride at home!"
