LIBERTY MOTORSPORTS ADDS NASH AND KROHN TO PERSONNEL ROSTER
Engineer will assist squad during USF2000 oval races, while Star Mazda race winner will act as F2000 Championship Series driver coach
ROCKFORD, ILL. (May 20, 2010) - Liberty Motorsports, in its continued pursuit of wins and series titles in both the F2000 Championship Series and Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship powered by Mazda, is pleased to announce the addition of race engineer Larry Nash and driver coach Anders Krohn to its 2010 squad.
With the goal of continually providing its drivers with all the tools to achieve success, Liberty Motorsports is excited to have added Nash and Krohn to its already impressive team line-up. A renowned race engineer, Nash will work with the Illinois-based team during the upcoming USF2000 oval rounds at O'Reilly Raceway Park and Iowa Speedway. An up-and-coming junior formula car racer, Krohn will act as the Liberty Motorsports F2000 Championship Series Driver Coach for the remainder of the 2010 campaign.
"Liberty Motorsports is excited to announce this deal that has been in the works for quite some time," commented Chuck Lessick Liberty Motorsports Team Manager. "We believe that it affirms our commitment to our drivers and their pursuit of race wins and championships. Larry and Anders will be valuable assets to the team and it will be great working with them both."
A native of Indianapolis, Ind. Nash has been involved in motorsports for over 20 decades, acting as an IndyCar Series Crew Chief for over 10 years. During that time Nash worked with numerous leading open-wheel racers such as Gary Bettenhausen, Paul Tracy, Robby Buehl and Sam Schmidt. Under the Nash Performance Group banner, Nash has continued to work with numerous up-and-coming drivers over the past several years, teaming up with squads in the Indy Lights series, Atlantic Championship, Star Mazda Championship, as well as pro and amateur F2000. With an emphasis on oval racing, Nash has helped several drivers reach victory lane, including Krohn in 2009 Star Mazda Championship race at the Milwaukee Mile. Nash recently partnered with Liberty Motorsports during official USF2000 Championship testing, working with series rookie Terrick Mansur.
For Krohn, the new partnership with Liberty Motorsports marks a reunion with Lessick. The Liberty Motorsports Team Manager acted as the Norwegian racer's Chief Mechanic when Kohn captured the 2008 F2000 Championship Series title as rookie, winning a record nine of 14 races. Prior to racing in North America, Krohn finished as the runner-up in both the Benelux and Netherlands Formula Ford Championships, winning six times. Krohn, following a race-winning rookie campaign last season, is currently competing in the Star Mazda Championship, lying fourth in the championship chase with one pole position.
Liberty Motorsports returns to action on May 29, with Round Three of the Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 National Championship powered by Mazda at O'Reilly Raceway Park, as part of the Night Before the 500 event. The Illinois-based team's pursuit of F2000 Championship Series honors resumes on June 12-13, with Rounds Five and Six at Mosport International Raceway in Canada.
