Buddy Lazier’s son joins Newman Wachs USF2000 team
Flinn Lazier, son of 1996 Indy 500 winner Buddy Lazier, will replace Cameron Das in the #38 Newman Wachs Racing entry for this weekend’s USF2000 Series double-header at Barber Motorsports Park.
The champion of SCCA Regional Racing Formula Vee for both 2015 and 2016, he recently also won Round 1 of the SCCA Super Tour at Sebring.
Team manager Brian Halahan said: “I am very excited to say that we will have Flinn Lazier driving the #38 NWR car at Barber and hopefully we’ll have him with us for more events this season.
“With all the racing history that the name Lazier carries, this makes a great story and a great opportunity for our team to help him move forward with his racing career.”
Lazier, who is also grandson of three-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Bob Lazier, declared: “I'm excited and very happy to have an opportunity to jump into the Newman Wachs USF2000. We really had no idea what we were going to do this season, and just to have a one-event opportunity at the moment means a lot to me.
“From what I've seen so far, the Newman Wachs car is quick so I think we can make good ground over the weekend.”
