Defending USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series champion J.J. Yeley claimed the pole this morning for Sunday's Nazareth 100 at Nazareth Speedway. Yeley, who has three Silver Crown wins this season, lapped the 1-mile tri-oval in 26.845 seconds, at 134.103 mph. The Phoenix, Arizona native currently has a nine-point lead over Illinois State Fairgrounds victor Dave Darland in the Silver Crown point standings.

"The car felt pretty good," Yeley said. "It was the first time we had a push in the car all weekend. The temperature change helped the track since we had to run hard tires. I feel confident with this car. We just need to keep tires under it for 100 laps."

Dave Steele qualified second. With two Silver Crown wins this year, he trails Yeley by 13 points in the championship.

"We went out there and ran as hard as we could," Steele said. "That's about all we could do, we just came up a little bit short. It was a bit loose, which we've been kind of struggling with all week. We're making small gains on it. Hopefully, we'll get it tightened up for the race."

Tracy Hines will line up on the inside of the second row, followed by Dane Carter, and Pikes Peak winner Jay Drake.

"The car was not very good -- I guess just fast enough for third," Hines said. "We don't have any changes planned before the race, not unless somebody else has another idea."

Jason McCord, Aaron Fike, Kasey Kahne, John Starks, and Tyler Walker rounded out the top-ten.

Tomorrow's race will take the green flag at 12:30 p.m.
