Randy Bauer of Kingston, Wash. already has one USAC Western Sprint Car victory under his belt. He hopes to add another when the series returns to Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park Saturday night.

Bauer leads former series champion Jeff Gardner by three points and 2000 series runner-up Tony Hunt by six as the series gears up for the 3/8-mile paved oval. Indianapolis 500 veteran Davey Hamilton, 2000 USAC Western Sprint Car Champ Todd Ellison and 1999 Western Sprint Car Champ Bud Kaeding won last year's three events at Tucson.
