Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. continues to lead the USAC Western Sprint Car Series standings in search of his first USAC driving title after winning Saturday night's 40-lap feature at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway.

Lewis passed Josh Wise on the sixth lap and led the rest of the way in his Team ASE/Snap On Eagle/Wesmar to beat Wise, Tony Hunt, Jason McCord and Chad Nichols. Lewis was also the fastest qualifier. Nichols led the first two laps before yielding to Wise.

The series is now idle until the November 22 "Old Pueblo Classic" at Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park.

Lewis, USAC's 1998 National Midget "Rookie of the Year" and 2000 National Midget "Most Improved Driver," has now won five Western Sprint Car races at five different tracks in four different states!
