The 2003 USAC racing schedule has grown on both the National and Western fronts with the addition of a National Midget Car race at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. September 13 and a Western Sprint Car race at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, Calif. April 19.

The September 13 Midget Car race, at a 1/4-mile dirt track 12 miles south of Tulsa, Okla., will be held the night before the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown cars return to the Tulsa, Okla. Fairgrounds, creating an exciting weekend of racing for area fans. The race will be the first for USAC Midgets in the Sooner State since a pair of indoor events at the Oklahoma City Sports Arena in 1975. John Batts and Sleepy Tripp were the winners of those events.

Other USAC Midget race winners in Oklahoma have been Lloyd Ruby and Jimmy Davies at the Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City in 1957 and 1962, Bob Wente and Jimmy Caruthers at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds Speedway in Oklahoma City in 1969 and 1970, Roger West at Lawton Speedway in 1970 and Bob Wente and Steve Cannon at Enid Speedway in 1974. Shane Carson won USAC's last race in Oklahoma, a 1986 Silver Crown event at Oklahoma City.

The April 19 Stockton Sprint Car Race will mark only the second appearance of the Western series at the 1/4-mile paved oval. Davey Hamilton was victorious in the March 26, 2000 40-lapper.
