WESTERN MIDGETS VISIT VENTURA SATURDAY

Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. leads the USAC Western Midget Series to Ventura (Calif.) Raceway this Saturday night as the series resumes with a 30-lap feature on the 1/5-mile dirt oval.

Lewis holds a 32-point lead over Brad Kuhn after finishing second and sixth in the series openers at Phoenix, Ariz. and Bakersfield, Calif. Lewis will compete in the Western Speed Racing Team entry at Ventura.

Jerome Rodela, USAC's defending Western Midget Champion, won last year's final race at Ventura. Other 2005 feature winners at the storied oval by the sea were Cory Kruseman, Ryan Kaplan and Tyler Brown. Brown returns to Ventura fresh from a March 25 victory at Bakersfield. Brown is currently fourth in the standings behind third-place Matt Mitchell, who made his USAC/CRA debut last Saturday at Perris, Calif.
