Portland Victory Makes Flock a 4-Time 2001 Winner

Robby Flock of Murrieta, Calif. scored his fourth victory of the 2001 USAC WorldCom Western Midget Car Series in Saturday night's 30-lapper at the 1/2 mile dirt Portland (Ore.) Speedway. He is currently eighth in the series standings, with a July 21 race at Bakersfield, Calif. next on the schedule.

Flock posted the fastest qualifying time, then caught series point leader Alex Harris on the 22nd lap and led the rest of the way in his Fontana Engines Stealth to beat Harris, Larry Brown, Thomas Meseraull and Josh Wise.

Harris' performance enabled him to pass Danny Ebberts for the series lead, which he holds by five after the Portland race. Ebberts was 13th in Saturday night's 30-lapper.

Harris won a four-lap trophy dash and heats went to Flock and Rory Price. Chris Oddo escaped injury in a flip during qualifications. <pre> USAC WORLDCOM WESTERN MIDGET CAR SERIES STANDINGS
