USAC Midgets make 1st PAS appearance Saturday!

(LAKE PERRIS, CA - AUGUST 6) The popular USAC Western States Midget Series will make its first of two 2002 appearances at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday night. Their second appearance will come during a doubleheader with the SCRA Sprint Cars October 4th and 5th.

Encino's Shane Scully leads the point standings by 82 points. However, he took a nasty flip during the Belleville Nationals in Kansas last week and suffered a fractured finger, bruised knee and a concussion

Second in the point standings is young Danny Stratton of Fontana. Stratton, who cut his teeth racing Quarter-Midgets in Pomona, drives the famous Jeff Pinkston #63. Last week he timed in third fastest at Belleville on Friday night just behind open wheel superstars J.J. Yeley of Phoenix and Indiana's Dave Darland.

Rounding out the top three in points heading into Saturday's race is Murrieta's Robby Flock. Flock, a multi-time champion in the Western States Series, sits just 15 points behind second place Stratton.

Joining the Western States Midgets on Saturday will be the Southern California Ford Dealers USAC Ford Focus Midgets.

Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM on Saturday and the first race will be at 6:30.

Don't forget that at intermission the entire family can "Boogie" in The PAS Dance Contest with prizes for the winning dancers ages 12 and under.

Perris Auto Speedway is the world's premiere clay oval stadium. The fan friendly track features an amazing 60,000-watt digital sound system, daytime bright lighting, a wide variety of delicious food, clean restrooms and paved spectator parking.
