Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. continued his mastery of USAC's Western paved ovals with Saturday night's 40-lap USAC/BCRA Midget victory at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway.

Lewis passed Michael Hubert III on the sixth lap and led the rest of the way in his Western Speed Racing Team ASE/Red Line Oil Beast/Esslinger. He was trailed by Tony Hunt, Hubert, Western Midget point leader Johnny Rodriguez and Wally Pankratz.

The series continues this Saturday night at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway where a 30-lap feature is scheduled on the 1/5-mile dirt.

Lewis was also Saturday night's fastest Madera Midget qualifier. Rodriguez continues to lead the series standings in search of his initial USAC driving championship.
