Alex Harris of Simi Valley, Calif. piloted his West Valley Grinding/Access RPM Esslinger/Beast to victory in Saturday night's 30-lap USAC Western Midget Car race at the Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif. He beat Robby Flock to the checkered flag after trading the lead back and forth with the three-time series champion.

Flock, who led the first 20 laps, yielded to Harris for two laps, then regained the lead, only to lose it back on lap 26. Ronnie Day finished third, followed by series point leader Shane Scully and Danny Stratton.

Scully will take a seven-point lead over Flock into this Saturday night's program of events at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway. A 30-lap feature is scheduled on the 1/3-mile paved oval, following prelims which begin with afternoon practice at 1 pm.

Josh Wise was the fastest qualifier at Hanford but was unable to start the 30-lap feature due to engine problems.

Todd Hunsaker of Chino Hills, Calif. leads the USAC Ford Focus Midget Cars to the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif. Saturday night. A 20-lap feature is on tap at the 1/4-mile paved oval. Hunsaker has won three of the last four races in the new series.
