IRP postponement sets up unique "back-to-back" Indy event.

Mario Andretti was the winner of both races the last time the USAC Silver Crown Championship Cars competed in back-to-back races on successive days. That was in 1974 at Sedalia, Mo. and Springfield, Ill.

Saturday's postponement of the "Hoosier Twin 50s" at Indianapolis Raceway Park due to rain sets up a unique repeat scenario in the speed capital on May 22-23.

The "Hoosier Twin 50s" have been rescheduled for Carburetion Day night (May 22) at IRP's .686-mile paved oval. The following night, May 23, the 51st running of the prestigious "Hoosier Hundred" unfolds at the Indiana State Fairgrounds 1-mile dirt track in Indianapolis.

Race organizers Team Six-R Racing have posted a $50,000 bonus for any driver who can win both races!

Since the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series debuted in 1971, no driver has been able to win races at both Indianapolis Raceway Park and the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the same year, let alone on back-to-back nights!

In 46 races at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and 25 at IRP since 1971, only three drivers have been able to record victories at both tracks. They are Rick Hood, George Snider and Jason Leffler, the defending "Hoosier Hundred" winner at the State Fairgrounds.
