The competition for the regional WorldCom midget championship at the Speedrome is the closest in years. Our two in a row first place finishes, puts us fourth and only 53 points out of first.
Last week, after my crew made a couple of adjustments, the #5 car never felt better. We started 7th and made our way up to 1st by the 12th lap. A couple of yellows closed up the gap, I didn't want to give up the lead so I stayed on the throttle hard and I went 3 wide and passed 4 cars in turns one & two. It is one incredible feeling when the car sticks and the announcer said he has never seen a pass like that before! Luck held out and we kept the lead. It got a little heated in turn two when the second place car and I were battling and a car in front of us lost control and started to spin. We went three wide and I quickly took to the inside, just barely making it through. Lap traffic caused a little congestion and close calls, but everything went right for us that night.
Thanks to all of you who came out to the track last Wednesday. It was great to see you in the stands, and to receive your supportive e-mails and phone calls. We love to hear from you!! Kitley Ave. on the East side of Indy, if you go west towards downtown on Washington St., just past Shadeland Ave., turn left or go south on Kitley Ave. (U-haul & Ralph's Muffler on corner) (353-8206) Heat races start at 7PM with the feature at 8PM.
