Tony Stewart Racing teammates Cory Kruseman and Jay Drake claimed the top two spots in Saturday night's 34th "Tony Hulman Classic" Sprint car race at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track. They also rank second and first respectively in the USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car standings entering races this week in Indiana and Ohio.

Kruseman, of Ventura, Calif., earned his initial triumph in one of America's most revered short-track classics with a stellar drive in the Mopar/Vital Express Eagle/Mopar. Drake, who led lap 1 of the 30-lap feature, finished second ahead of J.J. Yeley, who led laps 12-18 before yielding back to Kruseman. Jon Stanbrough and Tony Elliott rounded out the "top-five" at the checkered flag.

Drake leads Kruseman by 42 points going into this Wednesday night's "USAC 50" at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway. A 50-lap feature is on tap following practice at 3:30 and qualifying at 5:45. The first race is scheduled at 7:30 and the main event is 50 laps. Practice for Saturday night's 56th PayLess/Delco Remy "Little 500" special event is also slated Wednesday from 11 am to 3 pm.

The National series continues this Sunday night at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio with the final event of this year's Border Wars X. Tracy Hines won the "Border Wars" opener April 30 at Gas City, Ind. Sunday night's race is the "Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic," which was postponed by rain May 1. Practice at Eldora starts at 6:30 pm, followed by qualifying at 7 and racing at 8.

Boston Reid, currently ninth in the standings, posted his initial USAC victory at Eldora last year and is the defending champion of the "Branson/Larson" classic. Bud Kaeding, seventh in the new points, was Saturday's fastest Terre Haute qualifier.
