Dave Fuhrman, Jacob Wilson and Stephanie Mockler joined the list of first-time 2004 feature winners at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome last Wednesday night as Traderindiana.com and Wheels and Deals presents USAC "Open Wheel Wednesday" continued at the 1/5-mile paved Indianapolis, Ind. oval. The series continues this Wednesday night with Regional and Kenyon Midget activity as the Ford Focuses journey to Kansas for this week's Belleville Midget Nationals.
Fuhrman, of Avon, Ind., led all 50 laps of the Regional Midget feature in his Umber's Ace Hardware Kenyon/Yamaha to beat Norm Young, Travis Young, Matt Maners and Deano Lennon. Regional Midget point leader Sondi Eden finished seventh and retains the point lead by 27 over Travis Young.
Wilson, of Crawfordsville, Ind., scored his initial USAC triumph in the 50-lap Kenyon Midget feature, leading the final 44 laps in his Kenyon/Yamaha after passing Alex Gamber on lap seven. Series point leader Dakoda Armstrong finished second, ahead of A.J. Morgan, Nick Bohanon and Gamber.
Mockler, of Westfield, Ind., became USAC's first-ever female Ford Focus feature winner, leading the final 41 laps in her Mark Frew/Regal Printing/AED Motorsports Ellis to beat Jamie Williams, Travis Young, Joshua Clemons and Andy Baber. She trailed John Mount for the first nine laps before taking over. Series point leader Brice Kenyon finished sixth.
