Preece Wins 50-Lap Kenyon Car Main Event
Speedrome Hosts National Midgets, Kenyons, Focuses
Sondi Eden, Dakoda Armstrong and Brice Kenyon will be out to protect series point leads as Traderindiana.com and Wheels and Deals present USAC "Open Wheel Wednesday" again this Wednesday night at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome.
Eden, of Crawfordsville, Ind., became USAC's ninth female feature winner last Wednesday, taking the 50-lap Regional Midget feature in her Jonathan Byrd Catering Hawk/Brayton Chevy. She passed Robbie Parish on lap 19 and led the rest of the way to beat Mike Nigh, Joe Liguori, Dave Fuhrman and Chris Manifold. The win allows her to join Stephanie Mockler, Bev Griffis, Kaylene Verville, Shauna Hogg, Amy Wilson, Randi Pankratz, Denise Bennet and Kara Hendrick as USAC main event winners.
Mike Nigh led the first six laps of the Midget race before yielding to Parish, who led the next 12.
Ryan Preece of Kensington, Conn. led wire-to-wire to win the 50-lap Kenyon Midget Car feature at the 1/5-mile paved oval last Wednesday night. He was trailed by Thomas Hennigan, A.J. Morgan, Nick Bohanon and Zach Leeke.
Eden extended her Regional Midget point lead to 45 points over Travis Young, who finished seventh last Wednesday. Dakoda Armstrong, sixth in last Wednesday's Kenyon Car 50-lapper, holds a nine-point lead over Bohanon going into this Wednesday's program, while Brice Kenyon sits 76 points in front of Travis Young in the Speedrome Ford Focus standings. The Focuses were idle at the track last week due to their National race at Belleville, Kans. last Thursday but return this Wednesday.
