Aaron Fike 1st at South Boston, Yeley nears "triple crown".

Aaron Fike of Galesburg, Ill. captured Saturday night's 50-lap USAC National Midget Car feature events at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Va., leading the final five laps in his McGladrey & Pullen/Azer Clinic Beast/Pink Ford.

Fike was running third on lap 46 when his brother A.J. Fike and leader Billy Wease tangled in front of him. He avoided involvement and assumed the lead on the restart. Wease, who led the first 45 laps of the race, also restarted but eventually finished 12th, while A.J. was unable to restart.

National Midget Series point leader J.J. Yeley finished second and closed in on the elusive USAC "Triple Crown" as a result. Tracy Hines, the series point runner-up, was involved in an early-race accident and now trails Yeley by 121 points going into the final two races on the calendar. A total of 138 points are available in the Nov. 22 and 27 events at Tucson, Ariz. and Irwindale, Calif.

Rounding out the top-five" at South Boston behind Fike and Yeley were Jay Drake, 2002 South Boston race winner Teddy Beach ad Cole Carter.
