Darland's finish enabled him to maintain a 116-point lead over Yeley in the new series standings going into the September 20-21 "4-Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Ted Hines, Saturday night's fastest qualifier, was unable to compete in the balance of the program after burning a piston on his second qualifying lap.

Heat winners included Mike Hess, Teddy Beach and Yeley, while Ron Gregory won the semi.
