Travis Miniea and David Gough joined the growing list of first-time USAC feature race winners Friday and Saturday nights respectively in National Midget Car competition at Joliet, Ill. and Anderson, Ind.

Miniea, of Indianapolis, Ind., caught National Midget Car point leader Bobby East on the final lap Friday to post the win at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet in Margaret Owen's Specialty Metals Processing Stealth/Esslinger Ford. He was trailed by East, Scott Hatton, Tony Elliott and Brian Gerster. East traded the lead back and forth with Miniea and Jay Drake until Miniea's last-lap heroics.

Gough, of Machesney Park, Ill., led all 40 laps to beat East, Todd Beach, Dave Steele and Tracy Hines in Saturday night's race at Anderson Speedway. He drove his Task Management Hawk/Brayton Buick to the win.

Miniea and Gough are expected to be among drivers entered in the "4-Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio as East continues his drive toward his first National driving championship. East, following the two second-place finishes, has a comfortable lead over runner-up Josh Wise.
