Jimmy Wysong of Salt Lake City, Utah dominated Saturday night's 30-lap USAC/SLVRA Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car feature event at Rocky Mountain Raceways in his hometown. He piloted the Dave Gunn Temple's Maschine/Murdock Chevrolet Wysong/Chevy.

Wysong led the final 18 laps after passing Ryan Burdett on lap 23 and was followed at the checkered flag by series point leader Jim Waters, Mike Baisch, Dave Fitzgerald and Rick Pardee. Burdett encountered mechanical problems and failed to finish the feature.

Mark Bergener and Darren Spiers led early laps before Burdett paced laps seven through 22. Bryan Shafer was the fastest qualifier and Waters and Baisch won the heat races.

Mark Savage crashed during a heat race and suffered a fractured vertebrae in his neck.

Waters emerged with a 51-point lead over Fitzgerald entering the final series race, scheduled for September 13 at Rocky Mountain Raceways.
