Saturday night's USAC Sprint race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah will feature two of USAC's most hotly-contested point races.

The 40-lap feature at the 3/8-mile paved oval concludes the 2004 Port O'Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series but also affords points toward the 2004 Valvoline Western Sprint Car Championship.

Jim Waters of Salt Lake City holds the trump card in the battle for the Port O'Call title, with a 49-point lead over Mike Baisch. A total of 76 series points are available, so a top-12 feature finish clinches a second consecutive USAC title for Waters.

Tony Hunt of Fair Oaks, Calif. and Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. are locked in a tight race for the 2004 Western Sprint Car crown, which Lewis won last year. Hunt leads Lewis by only seven points, trying to repeat his 2001 series crown.

Waters will be aiming for his sixth victory of the season in nine starts. He has won the last three Salt Lake main events.
