WATERS STILL #1 AT SALT LAKE CITY

Defending USAC/SLVRA Young Automotive Group Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Champion Jim Waters paced the final 35 laps of Saturday night's race at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City, Utah and leads the series standings going into this Saturday night's race at the 3/8-mile paved oval.

Waters trailed Jeff Bergener for the first four laps, then put his Port O'Call/Lake Elsinore Hotel & Casino Beast/Klein in the lead for good on lap five. He was trailed at the checkered flag by former USAC Western Sprint Car Champion Todd Ellison, Chuck Maddox, Brian Evans and Jim Campbell. The race was halted after lap 39 due to an accident involving Jimmy Wysong in turn four. Wysong was uninjured.

Maddox now ranks second in the series points, 15 behind Waters. Wysong was Saturday's fastest qualifier.
