LOUISVILLE UPDATE

We weren't too lucky in our first race of the season at Louisville Saturday night. We had some problems setting up the car. Never having raced at that track, we had to learn it in just a few practice laps.

I had the lead in my qualifying heat, and with two laps remaining, I spun out with blistered tires. I pushed it a little too hard. I later realized the slower you drive the car on that track, the faster it goes.

We still had a chance to make the feature if we finished in the top 6 in the last chance race. I felt good and was running strong when I got bumped from behind. I saved it from going into the wall, but that gave a couple of cars a chance to pass me. I couldn't quite make up enough time and I finished 8th. No feature race for us that night! But at least the car and I were in one piece and looking forward to this weekend.

BUSY WEEKEND AHEAD Live, on Saturday night, it's The Coca-Cola 100. The gates at IRP open at 3:00PM, qualifications at 6:00PM and racing starts at 8:30PM in the red Mi-Jack, M&M Precision, Sunoco#82. This Silver Bullet Silver Crown race will be televised live on ESPN2.

Sunday night at Evans Kokomo Speedway, will be debut the new MCI WorldCom midget car. The speedway is located 35 miles north of Indy on US 31. Turn west on Morgan St., 1.3 miles. Right at light (north) ½ mile. Speedway on left. 765-459-3877. Evans Speedway is a ¼ mile, banked oval dirt track.

Thanks to those of you who came out to watch the Louisville race. I hope some of you can make it out to the track this weekend. Thanks for all your support and encouragement.

Talk to you soon...
