Jim Waters of Salt Lake City, Utah repeated his July 24 USAC feature victory at Rocky Mountain Raceways in his home town Sunday night, leading the final seven laps of the scheduled 40-lap feature at the 3/8-mile paved oval. The race was halted after 38 laps due to an accident involving Jimmy Wysong and Mel Andrus, Jr.

Andrus flipped and was transported to a Salt Lake City hospital for treatment of a mild concussion.

Waters and his Lake Elsinore Hotel & Casino/Port-O-Call Chevy were followed in the finishing order by Ryan Burdett, Dave Fitzgerald, Mike Baisch and Jeff Bergener.

Waters' victory left him with a 37-point lead over Fitzgerald in the new USAC/SLVRA Port-O-Call Rocky Mountain Sprint Car Series going into an August 23 race. Jimmy Wysong was Sunday's fastest qualifier and heats went to Jim Waters and Jeff Bergener.
