COONS AND R.E. TECHNOLOGIES LOOK FOR BUSY WEEKEND AT THE "FOUR CROWN NATIONALS"
Memphis, Tenn. -- September 21, 2005 -- Jerry Coons Jr. and the R.E. Technologies Racing team will have a busy weekend ahead of them at the "Four Crown Nationals" presented by Home Depot Friday and Saturday night at Eldora Speedway.
Coons will drive in all three USAC divisions at Eldora including the final USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series event of the 2005 season. For the R.E. Technologies Racing team, nothing would be more satisfying than a solid finish to end the season.
"The car was working real well at DuQuoin," said Coons. "The guys have been working real hard getting everything worked out with what went wrong at DuQuoin and getting that fixed for a good run at Eldora."
The R.E. Technologies Racing team is determined to end the season on a good note; aiming for a top ten finish at the famous half-mile dirt oval.
THREE RACES, THREE CARS, ONE DRIVER
Jerry Coons Jr. will be one busy man come Friday and Saturday night. The Arizona native and some of his fellow drivers will be competing in all three USAC National Divisions. In addition to driving for R.E. Technologies Racing, Coons will pilot the No. 69 Hoffman Auto Racing car in the USAC Valvoline National division. The No. 69 team is currently in third place in the owner's points, just 43 points out of first place. Coons will team with Jac Haudenschild who will be running a second car for Hoffman Auto Racing. Coons will also drive the No. 11 Wilke Midget in the USAC National Midget Series division. Coons says jumping from car to car on the same night can wear a driver out but it also has it's benefits.
"It is tough to bounce between three cars but it allows the crews a break to make adjustments while you are jumping car to car," said Coons. "Some guys may not have a chance to get good on the track just running one division but there will be a lot of guys running multiple cars. It will definitely be a tiring weekend."
COONS SECOND IN MIDGET POINTS
Jerry Coons Jr. sits in second place in the USAC National Midget Series points standings trailing leader Josh Wise by 68 points. The Wilke team leads the owner's points by 74 points coming into Eldora.
