"LITTLE HOOSIER 100" ON TAP FOR .25 MIDGETS IN 2009

"A Race for Kids" is the latest addition to the 2009 USAC racing schedule, the inaugural "Little Hoosier 100" for USAC .25 Midgets, slated August 1 at Newton Park in Lakeville, Ind.

Winners of each .25 Midget division feature will receive four-foot trophies as well as distinctive USAC Feature Winner medallions, emblematic of their significant victories.

The race will be held at Newton Park, located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 31 and State Route 4 in Lakeville, just a short distance from the Hoosier Racing Tire headquarters. Practice will be held July 31 and the races unfold August 1.

"We expect this to be a huge event right out of the box," says USAC Developmental Racing Director James Spink. "To have this in Lakeville is a natural and to have the Newton Family involvement is extremely important to USAC and to these kids. This should become a destination event for all .25 Midget racers."

Obviously, USAC's history with the term "Hoosier Hundred" dates back to the beginning of the organization. The first "Hoosier Hundred" auto race was held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in 1953, three years before USAC's debut, and has continued to this day. The "Hoosier Hundred' USAC Silver Crown Championship race is scheduled at the Indianapolis mile dirt oval on May 22.
