PENNZOIL TO SPONSOR "INDIANA SPRINT WEEK"

INDIANAPOLIS (July 10, 1998) -- The Pennzoil Company of Houston, Texas has agreed to sponsor the 11th Annual USAC "Indiana Sprint Week" event which will take place July 18 - 26. The four-year agreement announced today gives Pennzoil title sponsorship of the $150,000 non-wing sprint car event which features the USAC Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series.

"Pennzoil is proud to sponsor USAC's Indiana Sprint Week event," commented Tom Floyd, chief marketing officer, Pennzoil Products Company. "As strong supporters of grass roots racing, we are delighted with the opportunity to help bring this series to race fans in the great state of Indiana."

"The partnership between the Pennzoil Company and the USAC open-wheel racing series is a perfect match," stated Matt McCartin, USAC director of marketing. "Both organizations have a strong reputation for providing race fans with a quality product." The Pennzoil Indiana Sprint Week event consists of seven races in nine nights on dirt tracks throughout Indiana. The defending champion of Indiana Sprint Week is J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz., who is now a regular in the Pep Boys Indy Racing League. The Stoops Freightliner points leader going into this crucial week of racing is Kevin Thomas of Danville, Ind., who has won the event a record four times. In a separate agreement, Coca-Cola has agreed to become an associate sponsor of the Pennzoil event. The highlight of Coca-Cola's involvement will be the "Coca-Cola Lap Leader Award" which will award cash bonuses throughout the week for lap leaders, including a bonus for the driver who leads the most laps.
