MIDGETS AT ORP THURSDAY; "ANDERSON 200" SATURDAY; EAST TAKES 30-LAP THRILLER AT TWIN CITIES

The USAC Mopar National Midget Series joins the USAC K & N Silver Crown Series for Thursday night's "J.D. Byrider 100" at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Ind., then heads for Anderson (Ind.) Speedway for Saturday night's 200-lapper.

Brad Kuhn of Brownsburg, Ind. continues to lead the National standings despite tire problems in last Tuesday's race at North Vernon, Ind. He is 34 points ahead of Jerry Coons, Jr.

Chuck Gurney Jr. will try for a third consecutive USAC National Midget win at ORP. He won this year's "Night Before the 500" classic. Saturday's Anderson race is the longest on the 2009 schedule in terms of laps. Dakoda Armstrong of New Castle, Ind. won last year's 400-lapper at the quarter-mile paved oval.

Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. caught leader Tracy Hines exiting turn two on lap 25 and led the rest of the way in his Ford Racing Beast/Esslinger Ford to win Tuesday night's 30-lap USAC Mopar National Midget race at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon. Bryan Clauson took second in the closing laps, ahead of Brad Sweet, Kody Swanson and Dakoda Armstrong. Clauson was the night's fastest qualifier. Kuhn finished 11th in the race.

Thursday's ORP program also features the K & N Silver Crown Series in its annual "J.D. Byrider 100."
