Hines gives Hoffman record with Nazareth triumph.
"Border Wars VIII" Saturday & Sunday at Eldora, Winchester.

Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. remained undefeated in this year's USAC Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series Sunday, winning the 25-mile feature at the Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway and presenting his car owners with a record they have actively sought.

The Hoffman Auto Racing Team of Milford, Ohio, owners of Hines' Kroger/Folgers/Pringles/Sunny Delight Gaerte/Beast, earned its 52nd USAC Sprint Car win, surpassing the previous record of 51 established by Steve Stapp of Brownsburg, Ind.

Hines started on the pole and led all 25 laps around the 1-mile paved oval to beat A.J. Fike, Jay Drake, Derek Davidson and Dave Darland. The race lineup was derived from 2002 point standings after rains interrupted Saturday's qualification session.

Hines, who also won the April 7 series opener at Anderson, Ind., now leads Fike by five points going into this weekend's "Border Wars VIII" events at Rossburg, Ohio and Winchester, Ind. The 1/2-mile dirt Eldora Speedway hosts Saturday night's race, while Sunday afternoon's "Winchester Oldtimers" events are at the 1/2-mile paved Winchester Speedway. Both programs conclude with 30-lap feature events.
