Dave Steele of Tampa, Fla. captured Saturday's 30-mile USAC National Midget Car race at the Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway, leading the final 19 laps in his Dino Tomassi Mopar/Engler Machine Beast.

J.J. Yeley, the National Midget Car point leader, led the first 11 laps of the race on the one-mile oval after winning the pole on Friday with a speed of 135.084 mph. He finished fifth and holds a 29-point lead over Tracy Hines going into this Saturday night's "Bob Wente Classic" at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill.

Hines finished second at Nazareth and will continue his pursuit of Yeley in the race for the series championship in the Granite City event, which has been moved from the 1/2-mile to the 1/4-mile dirt track.
