Adam Nuetzel, A.J. Morgan and Nick Wagner recorded feature victories Wednesday night at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome in a final tune-up for this Wednesday night's "Vogler Classic" at the 1/5-mile paved oval.
The "Diversified Brokerage Insurance Group 100" presented by National City Bank highlights Wednesday night's events, the first National Midget car race at the track since Rich Vogler won a 500-lapper in 1989. A 100-lap feature event tops the National Midget portion of the evening's racing program and series point leader Bobby East is expected to be among top favorites for victory, along with former USAC National Midget Champion Dave Darland and the rest of the National contingent.
Nuetzel, of Indianapolis, Ind., led the final 25 laps of last Wednesday's Midget feature after passing Joe Liguori on lap 26 in his OB's Pizza/Corvette Collection Beast/Autocraft. Bobby Smith led the first 15 laps, then Ligouri led for 10 before yielding to Nuetzel. Liguori finished second, ahead of Sondi Eden, Mel Kenyon and John Sluss. Eden's finish solidified her Speedrome Regional Midget point lead, which stands at 40 over Chris Manifold.
Morgan, of Darien, Ill., passed Alex Gamber on lap 35 and led the final 16 laps in his Yamaha to beat Nick Bohanan, Brice Kenyon, Dakoda Armstrong and Jacob Wilson. Series point leader Brent Beauchamp failed to finish the race but continues to lead the standings.
Wagner, of Lafayette, Ind., led all 50 laps in his Wagner Chiropractic Beast to won the Ford Focus Midget feature. Jeff Leeke, Sr. finished second, ahead of Stephanie Mockler, Andy Baber and Travis Young. Brice Kenyon still leads the standings after his seventh-place finish Wednesday.
