ROSSBURG, OH (September 29) -- Kasey Kahne earned the pole in the MCI WorldCom/USAC National Midget Car Series division of the 20th Annual 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway Friday. Kahne's 109.883-m.p.h. lap around "The World's Fastest Half-Mile" was .250 seconds faster than teammate Dave Darland's 16.631-second clocking. He followed Tracy Hines across the finish line in the first heat race. The versatile 20-year-old driver from Enumclaw, WA, also raced with the USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Series and the Stoops Freightliner/USAC Sprint Car Series. It was the first time in Kahne's career he raced in three divisions in one day. Kahne was the 22nd-fastest qualifier in Coors Light Silver Bullet time trials. A 20-lap race will determine the final 12 qualifying positions for Saturday's 50-lap feature. Kasey was seventh-quick in Stoops Freightliner/USAC Sprint Car Series qualifying and finished third in the third heat race.
