ROSSBURG, OH (September 30) -- Kasey Kahne won the MCI WorldCom/ USAC Midget Cars Series feature and finished fifth in the Stoops Freightliner/USAC Sprint Cars Series race in the 20th Annual 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway Saturday. The 20-year-old driver from Enumclaw, WA, extended his advantage over Jay Drake in the midget point standings by winning his sixth feature of the season. Kahne, who started outside the third row, passed Sarah McCune during the fifth lap. He rode the rim around the high-banked, 1/2-mile oval throughout the final 26 laps for the victory. Dave Darland, his Steve Lewis Beast teammate, finished in second place. Kasey recorded his seventh top-five finish in Stoops Freightliner competition when he followed Tracy Hines, Tony Elliott, Eric Gordon and Drake under the checkered flag in the sprint car race. He started inside the fourth row, next to Gordon. Kahne was in eighth place when he hit the fourth-corner retaining wall late in the 31st lap of the USAC/Coors Light Silver Bullet race. After finishing eighth in the qualifying race, Kasey started outside the 10th row in the feature and received credit for 18th-place. It was the first time in Kahne's career he competed in three different divisions in one day.
