Two NASCAR stars join The USAC Midget Masters in growing entrants list for Mopar Twin 25's at Irwindale.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA - Dave Steele, winner of the spectacular $50,000 bonus prize at the inaugural TWIN 25's in Indianapolis last year, was quick to sign up for the MOPAR TWIN 25's AT IRWINDALE coming this April. USAC's 2002 National Midget Series Champion, Dave Darland, jumped on board immediately for another shot at the largest purse in the history of USAC Midget racing. J.J. Yeley, the 2002 USAC National Silver Crown Champion will be there.
In fact, a review of the growing entrants list for the April 26 race at Irwindale Speedway shows that virtually all of the USAC open wheel racing masters are going to be competing for the giant prize...Tracy Hines, Bobby East, the Fike Brothers and many more!
In addition, NASCAR stars Kasey Kahne and Jason Leffler have joined the star-studded field. Both are former USAC National Midget Series Champions, who have gone on to NASCAR's top series. Kasey Kahne is currently ranked in the top 10 of the NASCAR Busch Grand National series, while Jason Leffler competes in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
"There will be an amazing amount of great racing talent on the display at Irwindale Speedway for the MOPAR TWIN 25's," said Steve Lewis, of Premier Racing Entertainment, producers of the event. "Race fans will see the best in USAC open wheel racing in frantic, wheel-to-wheel action, as they go for the big $50,000 bonus prize!
"The response from drivers has been so great that we expect over 45 drivers to compete for the 24 positions available for the start of the first feature race."
Presented by Mission Foods, the MOPAR TWIN 25's will be held Saturday night, April 26, at Irwindale Speedway, the half-mile paved oval race track in Irwindale, California. It's recognized as one of the finest auto racing facilities in the country. Associate Sponsors for the race are Team ASE, Edelbrock Corporation, Racer Magazine, K&N Engineering and Superior Super Warehouse.
The USAC Midget race format offers a spectacular $50,000 bonus prize to a driver who wins both of the night's 25-lap feature races. The exciting challenge of the TWIN 25's comes from the fact that the winner of the first race must start dead last in the second feature, and must pass the entire field in 25 action-packed laps to win the $50,000 bonus!
The first race begins at 7 p.m., with qualifying beginning at 5 p.m. Exciting quarter midget racing action will be held in the Irwindale Speedway parking lot from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
