"TONY BETTENHAUSEN 100" SATURDAY AT SPRINGFIELD; DODSON TAKES IOWA'S "CASEY'S GENERAL STORES 100"

Jerry Coons Jr. leads the USAC K & N Silver Crown Championship Series presented by Optima Batteries to Springfield, Ill. Saturday for the 48th "Tony Bettenhausen 100" at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Coons finished third in Sunday's race at Iowa Speedway and has a 53-point lead over Dave Darland entering Springfield.

Cameron Dodson of Greenfield, Ind. won Sunday's "Casey's General Stores 100" USAC K & N Silver Crown race at Iowa Speedway, leading 74 of the 100 laps around the 7/8-mile paved oval, including the last 38. Dodson held off repeated challenges from Tracy Hines, who slipped to fourth in the closing laps, while A.J. Fike finished second and Coons took third.

Pole starter Shane Hmiel was one of several drivers involved in race incidents and failed to finish. There were no driver injuries.

Dodson's run in his Ford/Red Line Oil Beast/Yates Ford earned his team $10,500 from the total purse of $66,150.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won last year's "Tony Bettenhausen 100" and is expected to return to defend his title. Former Springfield race winners Darland (1997, 2001 and 2003), Tracy Hines (2006), Brian Tyler (2004-2005) and Russ Gamester (1998) are also expected to compete Saturday.
