SHEPHERD AND TEAM PREPARE FOR IOWA

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - September 12, 2006 - Peter Shepherd and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team are headed to Iowa Speedway for this weekend's USAC Silver Crown 100. The event will mark the first visit by the USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N to the new 7/8-mile tri-oval. This race also marks the first time that USAC rookie Peter Shepherd has been behind the wheel of a Silver Crown car since Milwaukee on July 23rd.

"I am pumped up about going to Iowa," smiled Shepherd. "I feel like the last race at Milwaukee it wasn't bad but it was a sixth place finish. It keeps the owners points up and it gives me a lot more confidence knowing the car is capable of running at the front. I am looking at getting a good finish at a track that no one has been on before."

Shepherd grew up racing short tracks in Southern Ontario, Canada. With 12-14 degrees of compound banking in the turns, Iowa Speedway could feel a lot like home.

"It is going to be cool going back to a short track," stated Shepherd. "There is a lot of speed there. I think our cars will be extremely fast at Iowa. It will be a race where you have to conserve your car but at the same time go hard."

The points race has been tight all season. The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team is currently 4th in points heading into Iowa, just 26 points out of 3rd.

"We want to move up in the owners points," said Shepherd. "It will be important for us to finish the race and to be at the front. The guys that are at the top of the points are the guys that run up front week-by-week. We have to beat those guys and at the same time keep our nose clean to move up."

The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team has finished in the top ten at every pavement Silver Crown race this season. The team finished second at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis with team owner Carl Edwards behind the wheel and second at Chicagoland with rookie Peter Shepherd behind the wheel

"We have been close with our second place finish at Chicagoland. I would like to thank the guys for all of the hard work and effort they put into the car to get it ready for me. I know our Ford powered No. 199 will be good so I want to make sure I am on top of my game too and get the car to the front."

SHEPHERD IN ARCA AND TRUCKS

Peter Shepherd has spent his time outside of the No. 199 driving in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The young Canadian finished 4th at Gateway International Raceway and 10th last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway driving the No. 39 ARCA car for Russ Roulo.
