Michael Lang of Indianapolis, Ind., and Daryl Campbell of Carmel, Ind. captured 50-lap feature victories in Wednesday night's Indianapolis Speedrome USAC Midget Car "doubleheader." Lang, who leads the 1999 Speedrome Midget Car point standings in search of a record fifth series championship, passed Adam Nuetzel on the 27th lap and led the rest of the way in his Keco/AdTech Floor Care/IFI/Clark Tire/Stebbins Aviation Fontana. The win was his sixth at the Speedrome this year and an all-time record 53rd in his Speedrome Midget Car career. Campbell finished second ahead of Pete Bitting, David Fuhrman and Brian Hornick in the race which concluded the rain-shortened August 4 program. Andy Anderson led the first 25 laps before yielding to Nuetzel. Campbell came back in the 50-lap nightcap to lead all but the first five laps in his AFCO Shocks & Springs/Jack's Frozen Pizza VW to beat Norm Young, Lang, Anderson and Hornick. Bobby Smith led the first five laps but finished eighth. The Speedrome Midget Car Series continues with another 50-lap feature this Wednesday night.
