Yeley Wins 1, Kruseman 2 as "Indiana Sprint Week" opens Gas City, Lawrenceburg, Bloomington, Terre Haute Next

Josh Wise emerged from the opening events of the 17th Valvoline "Indiana Sprint Week" series with the point lead, but he'll continue to face tough competition in his quest for the series title in this week's final four events.

The series visits Gas City I-69 Speedway Wednesday night after last Friday night's rainout there. Thursday night, it's the "Robbie Stanley Classic" at Lawrenceburg Speedway, then the "Larry Rice Classic" unfolds Friday night at Bloomington Speedway. The Saturday night finale is the "Jan Opperman Classic" at the Terre Haute Action Track. All four events conclude with 30-lap features.

Wise will be seeking his first Valvoline "Indiana Sprint Week" victory at Gas City after posting a fourth, third and second in the three openers.

Defending "Valvoline "Indiana Sprint Week" Champ J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz. scored a sensational last-lap victory over Valvoline National Sprint Car point leader Jay Drake in Thursday night's race at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon. Drake finished second ahead of Levi Jones, Wise and Shane Cottle. Yeley came from 13th starting spot in his Stanton Racing/DeFord Chrysler F-5/Mopar. Drake and Wise led the first 29 laps before Yeley made his winning move.

Cory Kruseman and the Tony Stewart Racing Mopar/Vital Express Eagle/Mopar claimed rounds two and three, winning back-to-back at Putnamville and Haubstadt Saturday and Sunday nights. He passed Dickie Gaines on lap two at Lincoln Park Speedway Saturday and led the rest of the way to beat Gaines, Wise, Levi Jones and Bud Kaeding. At Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt he caught early leader Mat Neely on lap four and led the final 27 laps to beat Wise, John Scott, Jones and Josh Ford.
