SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing recorded their fourth top five K & N USAC Silver Crown Championship finish of the season Saturday at the Tony Bettenhausen 100 when Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drove the No. 199 Roush-Yates Ford powered car to a fourth place finish at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill.n
The Roush-Yates Ford powered, Red Line Oil, J&J No. 199 unloaded fast turning a time good for fifth quick in the first practice session and eighth quick in the second practice session. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. qualified the No. 199 Silver Crown car a conservative ninth quick. When it came time to race Stenhouse and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team planned to conserve their Hoosier tires for the last thirty laps and that is just what they did. With thirty laps to go, the Mississippi native stood on the loud pedal, jumping from ninth to finish fourth, turning the second fastest lap of the day in the process.n
"We could have been more aggressive today," stated team manager Chris Santucci. "Ricky did a great job managing his Hoosier tires and passed the cars he needed to when it counted. Our Roush-Yates Ford engine performed for us all day. We learned a few things that should carry over next weekend at Du Quoin."n
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and the No. 199 team will head to DuQuoin, Ill. for the Ted Horn 100 on August 31st at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. The Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team is dropping in a fresh Roush-Yates Ford engine for the event at the one-mile dirt oval.n
