R.E. TECHNOLOGIES HEADS TO TONY BETTENHAUSEN 100
Memphis, Tenn. -- August 18, 2005 -- The R.E. Technologies Racing team and the rest of the stars of the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series return to the dirt of the semi-banked mile oval Saturday for the Tony Bettenhausen 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois. The series last three races of the season are on the dirt at tracks the R.E. Technologies Racing has had success on in the past.
"We are hoping for a good run," said driver Jerry Coons Jr. "The guys always give me a good dirt car on the miles and it seems like we are always right up front there."
Coons grabbed the pole for the Tony Bettenhausen 100 in 2004. He finished third, his fourth top three finish at the Springfield track in the past four years.
"I think the dirt program has been good in the past," said Coons. "We have gotten a few poles on the dirt. We just need to turn that into a win."
From Springfield, the team will visit the dirt mile at DuQuoin, Illinois on September 4th and the historic half-mile dirt high banks of Eldora on September 24th.
