Madison, Ill. (May 6, 2000) - Brad Noffsinger of Concord, N.C. shattered the ultimate USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet Series 1-lap qualifying record on Saturday afternoon, earning the pole position for Sunday's "Shop 'N Save" 100-mile race at Gateway International Raceway. Noffsinger's speed of 143.093 mph. eclipsed Chuck Leary's 3-year-old record of 141.750 mph, also established at Gateway.

Noffsinger will share the front row for Sunday's race with 1999 Coors Light Silver Bullet "Rookie of the Year" Paul White of Temp,e Texas. White timed in at 141.625 mph.

"We spent about 40 straight hours on the car after our April 8 accident at Nazareth, Pa. But I was happy with the car right from the start. Gateway has some great markers (1, 2, 3, etc.) and I was able to race past the markers into the corners. It was a shame we crashed at Nazareth. We were in the "top-5" just two laps before the crash."

Noffsinger scored his initial series triumph in last year's series finale at Memphis, Tenn.

Jason McCord of Anderson, Ind. won the 15-lap qualifying race to earn a spot in tomorrow's race. <pre> Results Saturday afternoon (May 6) from qualifications for the May 7 Coors Light Silver Bullet Series Race at Gateway International Raceway, with starting position, car number in parentheses, driver, hometown and speed:
