FOCUSES AT TULSA & VENTURA SATURDAY
HARRIS, DAVIS, MORGAN RECORD FEATURE WINS
Two USAC Ford Focus Series continue with events this Saturday night. The Oklahoma and California Dirt Series return for encore events at Tulsa Speedway and Ventura Raceway respectively.
Dustin Morgan of Collinsville, Okla. is undefeated in the new USAC Oklahoma Ford Focus Midget Series presented by United Ford and has a 15-point lead in the new standings after winning Saturday night's 25-lapper at Tulsa Speedway. He and his Arc Wrecking Beast led the final 20 laps of the 25-lapper after taking the lead from Jasiel Randolph on lap six. Leon Bacon finished second ahead of Evan Sewell, Randolph and Matt Sherrell.
Bobby Michnowicz of Harbor City, Calif. leads the California Dirt series back to Ventura Saturday despite a disappointing 14th-place finish this past Saturday at the 1/5-mile dirt oval.
Alex Harris of Simi Valley, Calif. led all but the first two laps of the Ventura race. He caught Rob Kershaw on lap three in his West Valley Grinding/Quality Community Homes TCR and was trailed at the finish by Robbie Whitchurch, Todd Carroll, Bill Camarillo and Chris Veach.
Nick Wean of Milford, N.J. is the new leader in the Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Series presented by Calico Coatings after finishing second to A.J. Davis in Saturday night's 25-lapper at the South Boston (Va.) Speedway. He will lead the series to Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C. May 6.
Davis, of Spartanburg, S.C., led the first seven and last three laps at South Boston in his B.E.L. Lawn Care/Mobil 1 Bullet. Davis trailed defending series champion Chase Scott for laps eight to 22 before a red flag for oil halted the contest. On the restart, a fuel leak forced Scott's car off the track, allowing Davis to take command.
Trailing Davis and Wean in Saturday's race were Michael Sboro, Gary Winters and Stephanie Stevens.
