Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina and California host USAC Ford Focus races this week. Steven Mathews of New Liskeard, Ont., Canada leads the Indiana Series to Wednesday night's event at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. Brad Greenup of Channahon, Ill. sits atop the USAC/UMARA standings entering Saturday's race at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. Michael Mohelski of Frederick, Md. is the leader in the Carolina Series, headed for Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park Wednesday, while Justin Hommel of Canyon Lake, Calif. is number one in the California Pavement standings going into Saturday's race at Altamont Raceway Park in Tracy, Calif.
Mathews trailed Eric Fehrman of Greensburg, Ind. to the checkered flag Wednesday night at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway and holds a four-point lead over Kyle Hamilton in the new standings. Fehrman's Del Taco/Indy Core Concrete & Drilling Beast led all 30 laps to beat Mathews, Julia Landauer, Greenup and Kyle Chady.
Greenup finished third in Saturday night's 15-lap USAC/UMARA feature at Grundy County, won by Branden Allen of Yorkville, Ill. in his Yorkville NAPA/Wholesale Tire Spike. Nick Grommes finished second ahead of Greenup, Tanner Whitten and Kyle Kettman. Grommes led the first four laps before yielding to Allen.
Jim Waters of Salt Lake City, Utah won Saturday's 25-lap Auto Trader Utah Developmental Ford Focus feature at Rocky Mountain Raceways in the Utah capital. He passed James Powell on lap 15 and led the last 11 laps in his Kelley Racing Spike to beat Powell, Kipp Posey, J.R. Williams and Gregg Fuette. Jeff Kelley, Waters' car owner, was one of four feature lap leaders, while the others were Posey, Powell and Waters. The Utah series resumes July 3 at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring.
Alex Bowman of Tucson, Ariz. won Saturday's 20-lap California Dirt Ford focus feature at Bakersfield (Calif.) Speedway. He was trailed by Nick Carlson, Walt Johnson, Brody Roa and Cody Swanson. Bowman holds a 22 point lead over Carlson in the standings going into a July 12 race at Ventura, Calif.
